Studio Build Complete

December 12, 2009

This is pretty much the end of the studio build series. Thanks for checking it out and please let me know if you have any questions.

My wife (who happens to be a professional photographer) will be taking some good photos of it before the end of the month and I’ll post them back up here.

End result:

It is an amazing space and roomy! The isolation is pretty good and the train (as suspected) has been reduced to a low rumble – nothing that a HPF won’t fix! :)

I did some acoustics testing using Fuzzmeaser and a calibration mic. The overall frequency balance is very flat, however the decay times are not very good yet at a uniform distribution of about 500ms. There’s some flutter echoing happening so I need to get a few more absorbers.

Looking pretty sweet! Hoping I can somehow build myself a small studio in our partially finished basement next year. Good luck!
